If only I had a chicken...

I think I've seen similar tactics on other animals. I wonder if you could find something surefire for people...

Christian the Lion and SoulPancake

I know it will never happen and it's not a good idea, but I've always wanted to own a big cat. Just check this out:

Another cool thing out there is this new website that recently launched. Rainn Wilson (aka Dwight from The Office) helped create it, but I like it for much more than that reason. I like the idea and the responses I've read so far. Check it out: SoulPancake

I Need Spring Break

When spring break rolled around in Arizona, the temperature was already in the 70's and 80's and the perpetually sunny skies were, well, sunny. To me, spring break was more about the break than about spring. It was a week off of school and responsibility, time to take a mini-vacation, catch up on stuff or veg in front of the television.

I now realize that spring break is for the rest of the country. People don't just flock to Cancun, Panama City Beach, and San Diego because they have a week off. They do it because so called "spring" looks like this:

Madison Square Park

Monday morning, I woke up to a winter wonderland. What a way to start the month of March! Even though weather.com advised people in New York to stay indoors due to the extreme cold and the still falling snow, Dustin and I made our way to work and even took the time to capture the morning on his new camera.

Television viewing at an all-time high

According to this article from the Los Angeles Times, the average American now watches over 151 hours of TV a month, about 5 hours a day. Wow! Where do they get the time? Between streaming video online, watching shows on iPods, iPhones and other portable devices, and utilizing DVRs, we really can fit that much television into our lives. I guess the plot devised by Alec Baldwin and the other aliens to turn our brains into mush is working.
I was curious and calculated my own TV watching hours. I figure I average 9 hours a week. I definitely make the most of the DVR as I am in class during my favorite shows, but that also means I get to fast forward through commercials. Neither my iPod nor my phone have video abilities, and with the exception of a funny YouTube video here and there, I don't watch anything at work either. Someone out there must be watching a lot of television to make up for me if we are going to hit that average 35 hours/week.

What I watch every week: How I Met Your Mother, Heroes, Lost, 30 Rock, The Office, Bones, Saturday Night Live.

If you're keeping score: NBC 4, ABC 1, Fox 1, CBS 1, the CW 0

Hiccups cure

I know there are countless "remedies" out there for getting rid of hiccups, but the one that works for me every time is this:

I get someone to cover my ears tightly and I guzzle about 4-8oz. of water.

After that, my hiccups are gone. Unfortunately, it's a remedy that is nearly impossible to do alone. Also, I've tried covering my ears myself and having someone else help me drink the water, but that almost always ends up a mess. It's much better to handle the water yourself. It probably won't work for everyone, but you can add it to the list of things to try.

Stimulus Bill

If you spent a million dollars a day from the day Jesus was born until today (or approximately the last 2008 years), you still would not have spent as much money as Congress with the recent stimulus bill for $787 billion. For better or worse, that's a lot of money!
